About Me
Hi! I’m Alison, and this is my very first blog post ever. Honestly, I’m a little nervous but mostly excited to finally put some words out there and share a peek into my life. The real, messy, everyday stuff.
A little about me: I’m 35, 5’9”, and currently weighing just under 300 pounds. I live with quite a few health challenges, including an underactive thyroid, alopecia, and a bunch of back issues, including multilevel degenerative spondylosis. Managing all this isn’t always easy. Some days are harder than others, especially when it comes to moving around or dealing with pain, but I’m determined to keep pushing forward.
By day, I work as a social worker, a job that’s intense and sometimes emotionally heavy but also deeply meaningful. It’s taught me so much about resilience, humanity, and compassion. These are lessons I carry with me every day.
I’m a proud asexual woman, and I embrace who I am fully, even when that means sometimes feeling a little different from the world around me.
Lately, I’ve been on a journey to improve my health and my life, one step at a time. That means cutting out sugary pop, cooking more at home, and walking/moving as much as I can. It also means accepting my limits and being patient with myself while managing my conditions.
And of course, I have my constant little companion, my kitty, who brings comfort and joy through all the ups and downs. She’s part of this journey too, and you’ll probably hear a lot about her in here.
Why am I starting this blog? Because I want a place to be honest and real. No filters, no pretending it’s all easy. Just a space to share my story, my struggles, my small wins, and maybe help others who feel the same way.
This will be kind of like a diary, a glimpse into my daily life. From my workdays to my health routines, the food I eat, how I’m feeling mentally and physically, and yes, plenty of kitty antics. It’s a place for real talk about mental health, self-care, chronic illness, and just figuring life out.
If you’re here for honest stories, support, or just to follow along with a day in the life of me and my kitty, I’m glad you found this space. Feel free to reach out or say hi anytime. I’d love to connect.
Thanks for stopping by. Here’s to taking life one day at a time, with kindness and a little bit of humor.
